Recruiting At Yard Sales

Summer is the time for cleaning out the old . . . and a prime time for yard sales and garage sales. Every Friday and Saturday morning this summer, bright and early, my associate and I, either together or separately, went to as many yard sales as possible.

Our recruiting success has been simply marvelous: Usually four or five solid leads per two- to three-hour outing. Of those, one or two became Representatives. That's not to mention the many new customers we acquire!

What we find is many people (not just those holding the yard sale, but also those attending the sale) who are looking for a bargain; an opportunity. We approach them with a friendly attitude and have a lot of success turning them on to our business! We wouldn't miss these amazing prospecting opportunities, and sometimes we even find great treasures of our own at the sale . . . while working! Talk about a fun job!

A Chamber of Commerce Advantage

I joined my local Chamber of Commerce, which is not an original idea, and in my experience, Chambers haven't proven to be that helpful for Network Marketing. I changed that, however, when I volunteered to write a column for the monthly newsletter entitled "Best Buys in Studio City." I visit local establishments each month, which gives me the opportunity to converse with an unlimited number of business owners in my area. I tell them what I do in the course of the conversation, and the rest is history. Not only has this been great for my business, I'm getting to know my community as well.

A Cheap Way to Reach Gen-X Prospects

I am a senior at the University of Colorado at Boulder and have found that there is a great interest in owning a business among the student population. Furthermore, most students are not familiar with the concept of Network Marketing and are very receptive to it.

Every college has a student employment center or career development office that will post a job opportunity for companies for free. To build my Oxyfresh organization, I placed over 75 advertisements with many of the major universities across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada.

The results? I received 30-50 leads a week from students ranging from freshmen to laid-off corporate executives who were going back to school. The only cost of this advertising campaign was the phone calls! It is a great way to advertise on a shoe-string budget and get some young blood into your business.
